U.S. Pharmacopoeial Convention (USPC)

Background

  • To develop specifications together with the USPC, ensure cooperation in the field of reference standards and interchange of personnel, and support the export of medical products

Introduction

  • A non-profit organization responsible for maintaining the United States Pharmacopoeia and providing reference standards and training

    ※ Pharmacopoeia: a book containing minimum quality requirements to ensure the safety and efficacy of medicinal products

Cooperation areas

  • Development of monographs for both pharmacopoeias
  • Holding of joint symposium
  • Interchange of personnel
  • Joint research on reference standards

Key activities

  • Efforts for medical products developed in Korea to be listed in the USP
  • Holding of joint symposia

    ※ In 2012 (Korea, USA and EU), 2013 (Korea and US), 2014 (Korea and USA), and 2015 (Korea and USA)

  • Interchange of personnel (total of three persons dispatched since 2013)
  • Participation in USPC's Visiting Scientist Program (VSP)
  • Holding of cooperation meetings (annually after 2012)
